DC to Reboot EVERYTHING

DC has just announced some major news...at the end of their current miniseries, Flashpoint, they will be rebooting the entire DC Universe...

That's right. They will be resetting everything back to each heroes origins.

"We have taken great care in maintaining continuity where most important, but fans will see a new approach to our storytelling. Some of the characters will have new origins, while others will undergo minor changes."
- DC Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Sales, Bob Wayne

Hopefully they keep the more important things the same, such as the crash of Superman on Earth, to the killing of Bruce Wayne's parents, to Abin Sur giving Hal Jordan his ring.

This will kill the years of convoluted non-sensical continuity issues that have been created over the years. So far that, I'm kind of glad. I mean, let's face it, things have gotten pretty bad, even in recent years...*cough cough the return of Bruce Wayne cough cough*

Another question that arises is what happens to all the other characters that we've all grown to know and love? While I'd imagine Dick Grayson would be the first Robin, what happens to Tim Drake, or Kyle Rayner and Wally West? Do they blink out of existence, never becoming heroes? I guess that is something we will have to find out.

So how is all this going down? Well to begin, they've chosen 52 comic series to stick with, each of which will revert to Issue #1. The flagship series will return the spotlight to the JLA, as writer Geoff Johns teams up with artist and DC's Co-publisher Jim Lee to spearhead the project. Jim Lee will also be redesigning all of the costumes for each hero. I'm super excited as he is probably my favorite artist.

This will allow for a more contemporary build of stories for modern times. I am quite skeptical, but I think it might work. They're not completely rewriting the origins and heroes, just restarting. They will need to go all in though, and not revert in a year or have offshoots for this thing to work. Think of it as any cartoon or movie you've seen with these same heroes that you enjoy. They're different, yet we love them the same.

I sure hope this works!
