Little Boots

Remember the Tenori-on post I made a while back about the Japanese digital music maker? Well one video I posted was of UK artist Little Boots playing music with it. This post is dedicated to her. Some compare her to Lady Gaga, but I say Little Boots is far superior, and she's cute too. *Shivers at Lady Gaga* Little Boots uses the Tenori-on in almost every song. If you visit her website, you can download a free mixtape by just entering your email address and joining her mailing list. It's just a 6 minute track, but still worth having. If you like what you hear (which you probably will), then you should pick up her album when it drops on June 8th.
Or check out her myspace at: myspace.com/littlebootsmusic

Learn to think better: tips from a savant

Here is an amazing article entitled "Learn to Think Better: Tips from a Savant." The man being interview is Daniel Tammet, who has written two books and can recite the first 22,514 digits of pi! In the interview, Tammet explains how his brain works and how he sees numbers and words as having form, color, and texture. The mental connections he creates in his mind to learn is simply amazing.

"In addition, my number shapes are semantically meaningful, which is to say that I am able to visualize their relation to other numbers. A simple example would be the number 37, which is lumpy like oatmeal, and 111, which is similarly lumpy but also round like the number three (being 37 × 3). Where you might see an endless string of random digits when looking at the decimals of pi, my mind is able to “chunk” groups of these numbers spontaneously into meaningful visual images that constitute their own hierarchy of associations."

Click the link above and learn more about Daniel Tammet. This is a very interesting article that you guys will enjoy.

Throwback Thursday: CN Bumps

So I missed today's post, therefore I'll have to make this week's "Throwback Thursday" extra amazing. Growing up, cartoons were everything. And what better place to watch them than the network with the name in it, Cartoon Network. I bring you old bumps from back when the station was actually worth watching. Though Flapjack and Foster's is still good stuff.

The cartoons are taking over!:

The art of making art

Sorry it's been a while. I'm still in this weird transition from college to graduate trying to get accustomed to my new life and moving back home. Anywho, here's some cool art stuff I found. It's videos of people making art. One by hand, and another in photoshop. Really cool stuff. Here's a cool blog that gives quick tutorials too on making things: http://tenminutedrawing.blogspot.com/

Well, I'm about to make you do the same...go ahead, turn it off...then what? homework? ha!

Wonder Woman's invisible jet's got nothin on this

John Vann, eat your heart out. This work was done by Sara Watson, a second year art student at the University of Central Lancashire. "I was experimenting with the whole concept of illusion but needed something a bit more physical to make a real impact." The illusion took her three weeks to complete and is currently being used for advertising by the local recycling firm who donated the Skoda Fabia (car) to her.

Mercury Rev

Mercury Rev is today's musical find. Their sound is unique and mystical. I'd say, the calm wonderment of Coldplay + the industrial electric sounds of late 90's David Bowie. They're often compared to the Flaming Lips, for good reason, considering lead singer Jonathan Donahue played with them from 1989-1991. Mercury Rev's recently come out with two cd's. The first was "Snowflake Midnight," and the second, Strange Attractor," is free to download on their web page: http://www.mercuryrev.com/

"Snowflake in a Hot World" (no music video, but my fave of theirs)
Can be dl'ed free and legally here:
